I'm using Microsoft Oulook 2003.
I receive reminders 17 or 18 hours prior to the appointment.
How can I change the setting to receive reminders on the date of the
appointment only?

Every item has a reminder time. Events usually default to 18 hours but you
can change it.

All day events default to 18 hour reminders and that can't be changed, but
you can modify the reminder tie by opening the item and choosing the
reminder time you want. For appointments, the reminder default time can be
modified at Tools>Options, in the Calendar section of the Preferences tab.

In Outlook 2003 you are able to change the reminder options on individual
appointments, including "all day" appointments.
When you click to add a new appointment, before you clear the "All day
event" check box, the default reminder for all day events is 18 hours. To
change it, just click the "Reminder" box and set it to whatever you want.
You do not have to clear the "All day event" check box.
The main difference between an "all day" appointment and an appointment with
start and end times is that the all day appointment does not default to the
reminder setting you have designated in Tools, Options, Preferences, Calendar
Options.

Of course. I said you can't change the _default_ value; i.e., the one
Outlook includes for a new event.
