Calendar failure

After running the Inbox Repair tool, my installation of Outlook 2003
went haywire.

The most annoying thing that happened is that it changed all of my
annual events and all of my recurring events into reminders, which pop
up every time I start up Outlook (97 of them!). I dismiss them all
and go on with my business, but the program is obviously not as useful
for me as it once was.

I have a backup PST file that contains all the correct calendar data.
It occurs to me that I ought to delete all of the reminders from my
current installation and import the calendar data from the backup PST,
but I don't know how to do that. Can anyone suggest how, or point me
to instructions?

By the way, ALL of my other Calendar data also disappeared after my
"Inbox Repair". Also, I my Contacts folder is no longer recognized as
my address book when I want to send an email, even though the data is
still there.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Why did you do that? It may help in guiding you.

Open the backup PST, if not already open (File>Open>Outlook Data File).
Open your regular calendar. Change to a table view (like Category) and
select everything in the folder. Press delete. Now open the other PST's
calendar folder and change to a table view. Select everything in it, then
click Edit>Copy To Folder. Specify your original calendar folder as the
destination.
Also, I my Contacts folder is no longer recognized as
my address book when I want to send an email, even though the data is
still there.

Right-click the contacts, choose Properties, then the Outlook Address Book
tab. Check the box saying "Show this folder and an e-mail Address Book".

Hi Brian:
Thanks for your reply.
The reason I used the Inbox Repair Tool in the first place was that I
was unable to download my mail and got an error message telling me to
run the Inbox Repair Tool.

I'll try your suggestion for Calendar later today. I tried your
suggestion for Contacts and still get the following error message:

"The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder
associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have
been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For
information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address
Book, see Microsoft Office Outlook Help."

The Contact folder is there. It has not been moved or deleted. I
don't want to remove it. I want to use it. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

OK. Thanks.

If this happened to me, I'd remove the Outlook Address Book service from my
profile, stop and restart Outlook, add it back in, stop and restart again,
then make sure the Contact folder was enabled as an address book. This will
cure the problem.
