Hi,

I have a PC running Windows 2000 Pro and is experiencing an unusual problem.
Although I've plugged in a working network cable into the NIC, it keeps
stating that the cable is unplugged. I've tried reinstalling the driver,
I've changed three NICs and reinstalled the drivers but to no avail.

It would be appreciated if someone you shed light on this issue.

Thanks.

try turning off all the power, let it rest 10 seconds, then restart.

this can be from different reasons ... defective network card, defective
switch or port, bad network cable or connectors.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your suggestion. I've tried all of them but to no avail.

Do you have any other suggestions? Appreciate it if you do.

Thanks.
Gerald

have you tried a different cable? or a different port on the
hub/switch/router?

Hi Andrei,

Thanks for your suggestions. I've ensured that they're all working.

Appreciate it if you have any other suggestions that could help. Do you
think it's the OS (Windows 2000 Pro)?

Thanks,
Gerald

have you tried the cables and router/switch/hub with a different computer
just to be sure it isn't completely gone??

Hi Dave,

Yes I've tried that and also brought the PC to another network to be sure
and it's the same thing.
