my modem is connected to the internet but my computer won't allow the
connection to go through for some reason. I contacted my ISP and they said
that my modem was sending the signal through to them, but my computer for
some reason was not recieving the signals. The ISP did not inform me on why
the computer was not reciving the signal. The ISP told me that there was
something wrong with the IP configuration. Can anyone help me please. I would
really appreciate any help.

let me know what ISP you Have,

uninstall tcp/ip restart and reinstall it

start-->COntrol Panel-->network Connections-->right click on the
adapter-->Properties-->uninstall tcp/ip

Are you getting an IP address from the cable modem? You can find this out in
a command prompt -

start, run, type

cmd <enter.

Type

ipconfig /all <enter>

Got any third party software firewall installed?
