win98 os using ie6 - computer wont use browser comes up
with this message in bottom tool bar
(C:\\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL dns error.htm) confused
tried everything please help:(

Check for parasites.

From: "Michel Desrochers" in a previous post.
I have a workstation running Win98. The IP address is correct. Netstat
results are fine. Tracert to DSB server is fine. When I type in any url I
receive "The Page Cannot be Displayed". The error at the top reads:
"RES://C:/windows/system/shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#http://www.google.com

Solution: I finally find that my problem come from a bad deinstallation of
new domain (a spyware come with Kazaa). I downloaded the uninstall program
that came from their web site and then I can access to the internet back.
It was New Net a parasite. http://www.new.net/support/uninstall4_80.exe.
Yours may be different.
KaZaa and all it's parasites
New dot Net, NewNet

If you are getting any type of dll errors and you have
ever had KaZaa installed...that's your problem. Even
after uninstalling, it left many files containing
parasites behind. I ran KaZaaBegone.exe and all of my
problems disappeared. You can find it at
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/...kazaabegone.zi
Do a google search on kazaa and you will see how many
problems it is causing. Good luck

I am having the same problem, but I don't have AOL and have never ha
Kazaa on my machine. Just to be sure I tried all of the previous fixe
that were mentioned, but nothing has seemed to work yet. I too a
running windows 98, I have an IP address and can ping myself, bu
cannot reach any outside websites. Any other suggestions?

i had the same problem when i tried to open a search egine such a
google or yahoo in my address bar. i would get a dshdoclc.dll/dn
error. i think i might have found the solution, well at least for me
what i did was open msn home page. typed in google in search. once
got to google i typed in shdoclc.dll error. ( you can type in anythin
you like). once that is in and you hit search. you adress bar shoul
look something like this."http:/www.google.com/search?.blah blah blah"
all i did was back space to http:/www.google.com/ and then clicked go
google came right up on my browser and is still in my address bar.
haven't had any problems since.
it worked for me and might for you. i tried all other solutions an
none worked. this was simple and easy. sometimes the answer is right i
front of your face. i'm not saying it's not a host problem or virus
but this is what worke

if you are running windows xp and are having a problem with openning
page such as google, it could be a cookies problem also. your compute
is set to automatic cookie handling. to change this click on tools
then internet options. next click on the privacy tab. check you
privacy setting, it may be too high. to disable automatic cooki
handling. click advanced and click "over ride cookie handling". the
click ok. this should solve the problem with the shdoclc.dll error whe
you try and open a page in your address bar such as google and yahoo
