C# Express..

I just downloaded and install C# express and all is well. But, I don't
understand the IDE. Trying to read the documents. I follow a hyperlink but
can't figure out how to get back to where I came from. It is like a broswer
but the back buttons don't work. The only think I know to do is kill C# and
start over...

So where is the history, open files, back??

Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm just trying to get a handle on your background so as to know how to answer this question ...

Are you a developer? If so what technology?

If not, what IT technical things have you done in the past? How have you come to be using C#?

Can you give us some information about your background?

I am(was) a very techie Systems mainframe developer 25 years ago. Over the
last 20 years i have been an Exec in a software company. Retired now and
came upon C# just to keep active and learn new things. I like the express
concept and would enjoy doing some developent as a hobbie.

I am somewhat literate with PC things. Mainly MS Office. Certianly
wouldn't call my self a develper. I have installed and written a few VB.net
programs. Frontpage. Access etc...
 
When you say you follow hyperlinks, is that in the help system?

When C# Express is opened there is a "Getting Started" window (tab) that is
opened with a few links to help topics. Personnaly, I would like to disable
this window.

Well for express users who don’t know much (like me!) the getting started is
not a bad idea. But, it displays a “Getting Started†HTML file that contains
various hyperlinks. So I choose a hyperlink, Learning the C# language for
example. That takes me to a help file (C# Language Primer). So I read that
and choose hyperlink Namespace. I read all about Namespace and now I want to
navigate back to where I came from (C# Language Primer). I am unable to
navigate back. The navigate back and forward buttons are dim and do nothing.
The drop down file list only contains the current file. Can anyone explain
to me how to navigate in the “Getting Startedâ€
