I was told that something was wrong with my bios configuration in my C Drive.
I cannot access my C drive from My Computer. Does anyone know what is going
on?

Amy:

Is this the same computer you are using to access this Newsgroup? BIOS
is something that resides IN your computer, NOT on your "C" drive.

Not being able to access your "C" drive from My Computer is another
thing entirely.

It is the same computer. When I acces the C Drive from My Computer, I do not
get files, I get a funny blank screen. Something is wrong there. I was told
that I had to had to get something, a "drive or bios configuration" to fix
it. Do you understand that? I don't and I know something about computers.

I'm sorry, Amy. But I do not understand what you mean. Apparently your
computer can access the "C" drive because it is running and you can
access this Newsgroup. What you describe appears to be some sort of
Windows Explorer issue, but I can't figure out what. A Drive or BIOS
configuration would (in my opinion) have nothing to do with what you see
or don't see in Windows Explorer. Could you describe the "funny blank
screen"? If it is blank, then how is it "funny"? Or do you mean just a
blank panel on the right side of the Windows Explorer window?

try one of those downloadable regerstry programmes, i ahd similar problem in
the fact exploreer took about half an hour to open - i got RegCure and seemed
to do the job nicely mayber this is your problem

I do NOT recommend that someone who knows such a little about the
computer even get close to a "registry adjuster" program. These
programs can be extremely harmful when applied by well-meaning, but
inexperienced persons. The major objection I have is that not everyone
knows what to keep and what to get rid of. Getting rid of an important
part of the registry can cause Windows to be completely unusable and you
have to revert back to a "as-installed" machine.

What needs to be done first is completely understand WHAT the problem is
by examining how it is presented on the computer screen to the user.

It looks just like a page from a copy of burn disc program. This is called
Roxio Retrieve. There is a message that reads " Could not locate a
multi-disc project disc" It asks for info such as Name, Source Disc,
Original Location, Type, Size, Modified. Does this help? I hope so

Absolutely! There is *NOTHING* wrong with your "C" drive. Roxio
Retrieve is a backup program (I think, as I am not familiar with Roxio
Retrieve). What it is asking for is a file which contains a backed up
"something". If you don't have a CD (with that file) that matches what
it is looking for then it would appear that you clicked on something
that you didn't intend to.

If you in fact did a backup to CD or hard drive using Roxio, then what
it is asking for is one of the backup CD's you made. Since a backup can
be more than just one CD can hold, then Roxio may make a multi-CD
backup. With most backup programs, the LAST one in the series holds the
full backup information -- the same as a multi-disk ZIP file. If you did
a backup, but put it on your hard drive, then what it is asking for is
the folder (directory) you put the original backup file into.

Since backup programs vary quite a bit in the detailed operation of
them, I would suggest you ask your question at the Roxio site (under
tech support or contact us).

Hope this helps.

Thank you for you help, I contacted Roxio and they could not help me. I do
not know where to turn to now, but I appreciate your help.

Amy,

I have read all of the posts regarding "drivers" and this thread. I suggest
that you look in the Yellow Pages for a Computer Club. Ask if they have a
volunteer technician. No guarantees, but you obviously need help from
someone OTHER than the imbeciles that you have been talking to. If you can't
find one, try a good computer repair facility... not the big box store.

Thank you so much for that Chuck. It is much appreciated that you think
so highly of your contributions that you need to belittle others. Not
all of us are as knowledgeable as you obviously. I must missed some
training at some point in my 40+ years of IT and computer work. Mostly
dealing with persons like yourself who really, really need an attitude
adjustment.

One cannot diagnose a problem if one does not know what the problem
really is can one.

Phhhhbllllttt!
