I installed XP Professional on my wife's computer a
couple months ago. Everything went well and her hard
drive was C and the CD ROM was D. I downloaded and
installed all the updates from the Microsoft web site.
Everything went well and her hard drive was still C and
the CD ROM was D. I then added a Internal Zip drive and
it became E. Everything worked fine for a couple months
until my wife began to complain about the computer
performance on the internet. When I started looking for a
problem I noticed that the drives had been reassigned
different letters. The hard drive was now E the Zip was F
and CD remained D. There is no C drive showing in My
Computer. It appears that whatever and however these
changes were made they were also made in the registry as
all the programs continue to work. The only noticeable
change in performance has been with Internet Explorer -
Outlook Express appears to be working fine so it's not
our internet connection. I know I can always reinstall
the OS and start all over if I have too but I was hoping
to avoid that. Any feed back you can provide would be
greatly appreciated.
