Something has filled the C drive (5 Gig). I do not believe it is a virus as I
have run Norton AntiVirus and found no problems. There are at least 50
programs? in the Add Remove Programs utility that are called Windows XP
Hotfix or Windows Hotfix (SP1). Could these be the problem? If not how do I
find out why the C drive is being populated and correct the problem. Thanks
for your help.

50 programs you say, hmmm. 5 GB isn't very big you know, maybe its time to
think about buying a bigger one.

Try downloading a program called TreeSize Pro from Jam software. It will give
you an idea of what is using all the disk space

Try doing a disk cleanup, if you right click on the "C" drive and go to
properties. Click disk cleanup and then check the items to remove (usually
temp internet files and recycle bin but you can leave any already ticked) if
you go to the more options tab you can also remove all but the last restore
point. Click OK you will be asked to confirm and afterwards check the used
disk space, see if that clears some space.

But as already said 5Gig is not a lot these days after service packs and
other updates.
