The owner of our company has new laptop with Windows XP
Professional. He wants to be able to power it on and not
see a Log On to Windows box. It is for home use and not
on a network. I setup his account without a password so
he can simply click or press Enter but that doesn't make
him happy. Anybody have any ideas wether or not you can
bypass this initial logon screen?

Thanks, Tim

Thanks. You still have to click or enter on that user and
he wanted to boot right up into windows. I'll just tell
him we'll install windows 3.1.... :-) Thanks for your
help, it was useful.

If he doesn't have a password set for that user account, then he should not
have to click the user. You would see the welcome screen but it would
automatically move on to the desktop.

Tim I just figured out how to do this, had the same
problem. first go to user accounts and see if you have a
third account that says ASP.NET something. this was put in
when you did all the updates. The update that causes this
I beleive is, Mircosoft.NET Framework version 1.1. I'm not
sure if just deleting it will work. I restored my system
to a point that it did not ask to logon and than update
everything except Microsoft.NET Framework, which is 23mb,
I now turn on my computer and go straight to my desktop..
I hope this help you....Rich
