I am getting ready to buy a used computer and my question
is what should I do about all the programs that are
already registered under his name....like the virus
protector and the windows xp...things like that. Is there
anyway that I can re-register them under my name or what?

You cannot re-register software. I'm quite sure the seller left "his"
software on the computer to make the sale a more pleasant experience. You're
OK with the WinXP because it has already been activated (unless it's pirated
or the corp edition which you should not use.)

If you want the software packages registered to you, buy new software. I
know this is not what you wanted to hear but it's the legal way. There MAY
be other options but not in this forum.

Michelle;
You are better off performing a Clean Installation.
That will get rid of all the previous owners garbage.
After reloading Windows, the necessity to Activate and option to
Register will be available.

Otherwise, create a new profile and delete old profile.

Line 7 Right column "Change registered owner..." (this only changes
entry on the computer)
