I recently bought a new PC and am trying to move files from one to the other.
I am trying ot move the business contacts from one macine to machine to the
other and just put them all into contacts. I have tried exporting to a CSV
and then importing them but get an error that says Translation error "A file
error has occured in the commas seperated values (DOS) translater while
initializing a translater to bulild a field map. Outlook was unable to
retrieve the data from the file ...... Verify that you have the correct
file, that you have permission to open it , and that it is not open in
another Program." it is not open in a nother program as it is on a thumb
drive and I do have permission to open it. The old PC is running XP and
Office 2003 and the new PC is running Vista and Office 2003. I have tried
exporting this file several times but always get the same error. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Is the business contact file a different pst file? If so is that different
backup or will backing up the outook.pst get both sets of contacts. If
exporting to a CSV is an option and importing from a CSV is and option why
won't that work also?

I don't use the BCM, but I suspect those addresses are in the same PST.

Using import and export loses data. Why would you want to do that?
