Can anyone tell me where e-mails are stored on an
individual PC.
I want to reformat my computer, but I want to burn a CD
containing my current e-mail postings.

Any help? I've looked all through windows explorer and
can find where they reside.

Microsoft Outlook stores items in a *.PST file. File location tends to
vary, but the easiest way to find the file is to bring up the folder list,
right click on personal folders, select properties, and select advanced to
get the path/filename information.

FWIW, when you go to burn the *.pst file to the CD. Do not burn faster than
4x.

Hi,

All your email is stored in a file (outlook.pst). Make
sure in windows explorer, you set the option to show
hidden files/folders and then do a search *.pst

The answer really depends on what type of accounts you are using, and what
your individual setup is

Hi,
Is it possible for someone with a different user profile
to be able to import the pst file or is there another
method?

Thanks,
Elly

The file you need to back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:

PST files aren't tied to profiles, per se. Any profile can have an PST
associated with it as long as the user has read/write permissions to the
PST.
