I have burned a song (an MP3 file) onto a CD, using RealPLayer, which then
successfully played back on my PC.

However, it will not play on my Hi-Fi.

Does anyone have any idea why not?

Because your Hi-Fi's CD player cannot decode mp3 files. If you want to
burn that mp3 file to a CD-R so that it will play on your home CD player,
you must burn an *AUDIO* CD, and NOT a *DATA* CD. Burning a data CD burns
the file as an mp3 file. Telling your burning software to create an audio
CD converts the mp3 file to cda format, which your CD player can play.

Thanks Ian
