I just purchased a new PC and it came with a bunch of bundled software. I
want Norton completely off my PC. I have uninstalled it from the control
panel and it has been removed. How can I ensure that it is completely off my
PC (someone has mentioned something about checking the registry). I want ALL
instances remvoed from my computer.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Symantec is a reputable company, if it's not showing up in add/remove
programs then it is gone. The only traces left on your pc should be
configuration files.

Symantec leaves loads of information on your compuer, even after
uninstalling it. I uninstalled it from my laptop the same day that I bought
it and I was amazed at the amount of garbage that it had left on the system.

You can try going to Smantec's web site and using their tool to remove it:

If you're not satisfied with the results then you can try re-installing XP.

Not at all true. Norton is notorious for not uninstalling completely and
leaving pieces of itself all over the place. There is a Symantec page that
tells how to get rid of at least some of those pieces, but I don't seem to
be able to find the URL at the moment. I'm sure someone else will post it
soon.
