bullet position

Hi, I'm trying to put a bullet between text like Mindy (bullet) Thomas but
no matter where the cursor is, it always put the bullet on the left side.
can someone please help me?
 
What you really want is a symbol, not a bullet. Try Insert > Symbol and find
the "bullet" you want.
