My XP CD burning software will not work anymore. It does
not recognize that a disk is inserted. Other burning
software still works. What can I do do to get the built
in software working again?

Ok, first, XP's burning software "SUCKS", but if you
really want to you use it, you can. Normally it will work
with other "Burning Software", I said "NORMALLY". In "My
Computer, right click on the Burner\CD Rom, click
on "Properties", click on the tab, "Recording", make sure
that the box, "Enable Recording on this Drive" has a
check mark. Ok your done, but you can only use this
by "Drag and Drop" in "Explorer" or the likes. Good Luck,
I have tested this and it does work, I have (Roxio)Easy
CD\DVD Creator 6.0.

Check in My Computer - r-click the drive and properties - Recording to
be sure it is enabled. Note that if you install InCD or Direct CD it
will usually be disabled - and should be left like that.

In the Autoplay page, select Blank CD in the Drop down. Then click in
Select action, Highlight the 'Open Writable CD folder in Explorer', and
click Apply

If it still does not work, Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Check at its My Computer - Autoplay that it is checked in both the
Drives [by letter] and the [drive] Types pages.
