Hi. I plan on building a bunch (40 or so) of windows machines for a school i
work at in the near future, but not all at the same time or with the same
specs. is there any way i can make an automated process or disk with the
windows installer, video drivers and such and then tell the process to
install windows and click yes to this option and such , then this video
driver, and this software, and then this background picture, etc.? switching
cd's will be a pain in the bum/not time efficient and i'm sure there has tobe
a better way: i don't think hp or alienware is sitting there swapping cd's
every few minutes...haha.

also, how would i go about setting up a partition on each hard drive as a
install backup incase something goes wrong and we want to wipe the disk clean
and install it back to a "factory" config

What I have seen done is to configure one of each machine and then
clone the drives from the first machine to all the other identical
machines. As long as the hardware is the same, all you have to worry
about is the XP serial, and I know that there is a way you can stop the
install and make the image just short of the user setup area, I just
don't know how to do it.

A good clone program might be worth investing in.
