All of a sudden I'm getting bubbles popping up on my taskbar saying that I
have files waiting to be written to CD. These files seem to be the contents
of my C: drive, any ideas?

This bubble messages comes when there are files in the folder:-

C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\CD Burning

Maybe there are some there left over from last time you copied
something to CD.

If you don't want the files, just delete them.

(1) Do you have Easy Creator?
(2) Do you have more than one hard drive partition or more than one hard
drive?

If you answered "Yes" to both questions, here is what I learned from two
weeks of Newsgroup postings, Microscoft Tech Support, and Roxio Tech
support:

Roxio done it, and it can't be undone...unless you want to format your
drive, do a clean install of Windows XP, and throw Roxio in the garbage.

Easy Creator captures the System Volume Information folder and the
Pagefile.sys file and lists them as files needing to be burned to CD. This
problem was replicated on three separate machines.

I reported what I learned. If, as you say, I reported "Completely wrong
information" please post the "right" information. If you have not
experienced the problem, or if you don't have information useful in
resolving the problem, please don't cast aspersions.

I have used Roxio EZ CD Creator since version 4...I have many machines
running both version 6 an version 7. I have never experienced what you are
describing, and in talking to other SYSAdmins who administer other computers
with it installed, they have never heard of it either. I would estimate
that between us we have an installed base of well over a hundred machines,
each configured differently and with different software packages installed.
Not once has anyone experienced what you are describing. The Roxio support
sites do not make any mention of it, other than your posts. I am inclined
to believe that your situation is unique to you.

Maybe you are the one with head in as*. I said that the files seemed to be
the contents of my C drive. Thats the boot drive, I don't want to delete
that now, do I?

You would be deleting the files that are in the temporary directory created
by EZCd, and not the actual contents of the drive.

Ozhog:
Is there a file listed there called "system volume information"? If so,
that is the problem I had.

What happened to me was that, even though the files show a crooked arrow,
denoting that they are shortcuts, when you delete them the entire file goes
away. To test this, copy one of the files shown in the balloon to a floppy,
so you don't lose it, the delete the "shortcut" in the Roxio balloon. If
the file actually disappears, then you have the same problem I had.

You can't, of course, delete the SysVol as it is a system file that is in
use.

Like I said, Microsoft spent a week with me sending e-mail back and forth
before finally guessing that it was a Roxio problem. Roxio tech support was
not helpful at all. That is when I dumped their product.

steve

Thanks Steve have dumped roxio and turned off bubble help. Will be doing a
reinstall soon as well.
