BSOD on install

I was having various problems with my computer so i
decided to format C: and start over. But now i can't even
reinstall windows XP pro. Durring the install process it
gives me the BSOD...I have no idea whats wrong please
help. The error is as follows:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown
to prevent damage to your computer

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error
screen,restart your computer. If this screen appears
again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation
or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration,
and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check
for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Thanks, tho after running both chkdsk and scandisk I have
found no problems with the HD...so i guess ill just make a
new NTFS partition, and if that doesnt work, might aswell
try FAT32...
