Thanks Ted, very helpful! I'm not sure whether anyone is
still at my other post so I will restart it here. I have
encountered a problem with the latest update windows just
downloaded. I get BSoD and the system reboots every time,
not allowing me to get into windows.

I finally got the hex numbers and error code from the
computer's owner, which are below;

0x00000035
NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATION

If you can help me out with fixing this it would be very
apreciated.

You really should reply in thread. Otherwise you're making yourself hard to
find.

And while I'm on that topic, you really ought to start using Outlook Express
as your newsreader. Get rid of the klunky Microsoft web site interface.

An IRP (Input/Output Request Packet) is part of the technology for working
with device drivers. One or more of your device drivers is corrupted or
poorly written. As further proof of this, you were able to start in Safe
Mode (in order to follow my earlier directions) which uses only a very basic
set of Windows' own drivers.

Your task is to find the offending driver or drivers, and then upgrade to
the latest version of same from the hardware manufacturer's web site.
Usually, this is a tedious process where you load drivers one at a time
until you find the bugger. But there may be a better way:

Go into Device Manager. Are any of your hardware devices highlighted with a
yellow exclamation point or a red X? That's the one.
