I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this
question, if not tell me and I'll go to the ridht place ,
if you tell me where it is. I do on line banking and
purchasing for items around my house. due to the security
flaws in Microsoft IE browser, I have been told to go to
Opera or Firefox. Which would be best to use on xp pro?
Thanks!

What security flaws? I do on line banking etc. and only use IE. You've been
sold a bill of goods.

I can thoroughly recommend Firefox, I have used Opera in the past but
can't comment on the current offering. You do need to check that your
bank will allow you to use another browser, also some javascript
implimentations don't work in Firefox (usually 'cos they are incorrect
or conjured up MS Frontpage.

Having said that my wife uses Firefox for her banking and we use it for
bill paying and purchasing. We have also replaced IE with Mozilla
Thunderbird - a simple & fast email & news client.

Your point is, Mr Policeman?

Many of us use non MS products on our MS operating systems and it is
thoroughly on topic to discuss these products in the context of, in the
case of this newsgroup, Windows XP.

Mr Candy,
I deeply resent your insults. You have no idea whether I have
an agenda or not.

I have been a Windows user for many years and, for what it's worth, I
think that Windows XP is by far the best OS that MS have produced to
date - not perfect but pretty good.

As to browsers & email programs- the evidence speaks for itself -
insulting each other is hardly objective and I'm sure Mr Gate's back is
broad enough to handle a little competition.

So lighten up, get out and enjoy the summer.
