Browser supporting JAVA

I need to access certain tests on a website but the
message reads that my browser does not support java or
java may be disabled. I have tried help and support but
cannot find how to check if it is disabled.

Can you help?

In IE - Tools, Internet Options, Security tab, Custom Level button,
Microsoft VM, Java Permissions
 
I got to the Custom Level button, but did not fine
Microsoft VM, Java Permissions. I did find scripting of
Java applets, which is enabled.
