Hello...
The default Unread Mail search folder has died on Outlook (2003).
This happened when I changed an account or some folders or something...
Now when I click on this folder nothing happens. If I right-click on it then
Outlook very quickly crashes and as to be restarted.

I tried creating a new profile to access my existing pst file but this made
no difference.

If anyone has any idea how I can delete this folder or fix it then please do
let me know.
Your help will be greatly appreciated. This has been bugging me for weeks.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Right click on the busted search folder and select Delete. Right click on
Search Folders and select New. Wizard should be pretty self-explanatory in
creating a new "Unread Mail" search folder.

Thanks for the assistance...
Although as mentioned, the moment I right-click on this folder Outlook
crashes and sends a report off to Microsoft regarding the error -- although
MS don't provide any feedback on why the crash occured.

And yes, I have created a new "Unread Mail1" folder in place of the other
one. Yet I am hoping I can get rid of the other one some how as it, along
with other folders that I can't remove from the Favorites panel, is making
that panel far bigger than it needs to be (see my other help request re that
issue).

Cheers,

Jonathan

Try starting Outlook in safe mode to perform the delete. The command line
switch for safe mode is /safe.

Hi there,
Thanks Neo. That has made it possible to right-click on this folder.
I note too that when I left click on the folder I get the error message "The
operation failed. The object could not be found"
I seem to have fixed this error by clearing the list of folders it was
ticked to search in. I suspect it was trying to search in a folder that no
longer existed and outlook didn't realise this so it would just crash it...
or show me this "oject not found" message. That "object" I suspect was the
non-existant folder it was trying to search for unread mail within.

In safe mode I am now also able to remove the folders from FAVORITES that I
don't want there.
Thanks,

Jonathan
