Broadband Settings

Before I embark on a "system recovery" on my daughter's computer I would
like to ask some questions about broadband/LAN. System is WinXP HE.
a. Where are the settings of a broadband connection located?
b. If I do a system recovery will copying this setting to the newly
recovered OS work?

Any help will be appreciated. TIA

A. Control Panel --> Network Connections and the appropriate device for said
network connection.
B. Depends on what you mean by System Recovery. Please be more specific.

Usually - broadband connections are pretty generic - setup for DHCP and
such - all defaults - meaning "Plug-n-go".. No configuration necessary.
Only if this machine had a static IP, specific DNS entries or had to use a
spcific client to logon to the broadband network would you need to worry
about anything.

The pc is a Sony VAIO and will be using the OEM system recovery disks.
It has no option of recovering the just the OS but only to wipe the
system clean and reformat. I'm new to broadband and I thought it was
going to be a simple task like just copying the current settings to a
recovered hard drive.

I just checked out the control panel/network connections and I think I
can take it from there.
