Broadband disconnts from internet

My computer running windows xp home will not connect to the internet after it
has set idle (about 1 hour). I have to reboot to be able to get back on the
internet or check email. I have the same problem with my laptop running
windows xp pro. My kids computer has win98se and never had this problem.
I am fairly new to windows xp. I have checked the power off when idle
setting on my network cards to turn them off but that hasnt helped.

Any help would be appreciated

Provide ipconfig information for your Windows XP Home computer, and for your
kids Windows 98 computer, as a start.
1) Start - Run - "cmd".
2) Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command window.
3) Open Notepad, make sure that Format - Word Wrap is NOT checked!.
4) Open file c:\ipconfig.txt from Notepad.
5) Copy and paste entire contents of the file into your next post.
6) Identify operating system (by name, version, and Service Pack level) with
each ipconfig listing.
7) Please don't munge or omit any detail, as a case like yours will best be
resolved with details.

Next, try these two commands (less the ""), entered from a command window (Start
- Run - "cmd").
"ipconfig /release"
"ipconfig /renew"

How are you, and your kids computers, connecting to the internet?
