Hi there.
I have three accounts on my WinXP x64 setup -- admin, my account & my
wife's account.
For some reason, my network connection will only work for my account;
not even my admin account. This makes updating Windows impossible
since the updater seems to want to be in admin mode.

Offhand, does anyone have some suggestions on things I can try to
remedy this problem?

Thanks,
Alec

Dunno if it applies in your case, but ran into situation recently
where a broadband connection at a couple's house was configured like
a "dial-up"/PPP except it was over DSL -- that meant anytime they
powered up the computer, they had to enter a password. It also meant
both of them couldn't be on at the same time. The DSL modem wouldn't
work hooked into a switch -- only when plugged directly into one of their
ethernet ports (it was an earthlink DSL setup).

So, is it possible your broadband connection requires some sort of
authentication that is performed automatically on your private account, but
that authentication was never configured on the other accounts?
