"Briefcase" missing from Right Click > New

Hi,
For a while now I have had "My Briefcase" and "Compressed (zipped) Folder,
missing from the "Right click > New" menu.
I now need the briefcase for a portable drive (it's a small portable drive
so i need the zip thing too).
Any help would be much appreciated,
