Can you use the IRR function to calculate the break-even point? If not, what
is the break-even function?

IRR is the break even rate at which cash inflows equals to cash outflows as
at today.
What is the "point" that you are mentioning?

The breakeven point is the point when the total revenues equal the
total costs based on the typical assumption that in a project costs >
revenues in the beginning and costs < revenues in later stages.

This point can be expressed either in time units or in production
quantity or ???

I need to know if there is a function in excel that calculates the
break-even point.

Maybe

=SUMIF(CashflowRange,"<0")

If not, what do you mean by the break-even point? If you don't define what
you mean, you may not get much help.
