Hi.

Pages that previously didn't display the annoying "done, but with
errors" message now (inexplicably) display this error. This just
started happening late MON into TUE. IE7 on Vista. Pre-5/9 Vista
update.

The big question: anyone know why?

Oh, and NOTHING on my end changed. NOTHING on the sites I am using as
examples of this changed either. So don't even go there. And if you
check other groups, you will see that others folks have started
reporting this "new" error too. Over the past two days.

Just figure it out.

Thanks in advance!

Well, since exactly nothing has changed on either the sites or your system,
and you don't want to hear otherwise, there isn't much to say except: Why
did you bother posting? And, you must be halucinating then.
I'll keep my opinions to myself since you don't want them.

Ugh.

The point was that I didn't want some OVERLY SIMPLISTIC back-to-square-
one babble-speak. What I would like is for someone to say "yes, I've
noticed this over the past few days too - yes, I've noticed that other
people, ALL OF THE SUDDEN, have started reporting the same thing -
they see this message when prior to MON, on the exact same sites, they
didn't." Then I would like someone to say, "OH! I know what this is -
it's a new problem with IE7 running on Vista or [insert official
technical explanation here]" OR "I haven't a clue why this is
happening, but I agree with you, it IS happening, and I will look into
it."

You, unfortunately, did neither.

So... does anyone want to take a crack at figuring this out?

And it really is ok to say I DON'T KNOW [glares at "Pop"].

Don't make stuff up. Just figure it out.

A new clue: IE7 on XP (with the exact same settings) doesn't display
the message. On the exact same site, IE7 on Vista does.

OK. I am not going to go there. So I am not able to give you any kind of an answer for your issue. Now that is a fair answer and I hope that is what you wanted to hear.

Sample URL?

Sample URL?

I'll do you one better:

http://groups.google.com/groups/search?q="done,+but+with+errors"&start=0&scoring=d&

Just read what others are saying and mine examples from that. I can
assure you, this is not an isolated incident. And it just started
happening earlier in the week. Jeez Louise, I hope someone from
Microsoft is reading this. Again: with the same version of IE7 (with
the exact same settings), when viewed on an XP box, there's no error.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Thanks in advance!

The reason IE7 does that, it's not because of Vista, *surprise/sorry*
not sure what you were wanting to blame it on....

IE7 was released with a ton of new features, 90% of most websites
don't have anything on their end that can utilize IE7's new features.
So IE7 decides to call them errors. Start IE7 with 'no-addons' and
you'll probably see less '..but with errors"...

Now run along and play nice with the other kids....

Tee-hee!

[ugh]

Gee, you're really not paying attention, are you?

I said: IE7 on XP (WITH THE EXACT SAME SETTINGS) doesn't display these
errors (on the exact same sites). IE7 on Vista does. And these errors
just started happening on the Vista machine earlier in the week. I
upgraded to IE7 (and then Vista) many moons ago.

So... again... it really is OK for you to say that you don't know. Cuz
quite clearly, you have no idea what's causing this (for me and all
the other folks who are making recent posts saying "Hey, how come lots
of the pages I go to now say 'Done, but with errors' when previously
they did not").

In summary: This really is happening and YOU DON'T KNOW WHY.

Again, the plea (which is apparently falling on deaf and/or dumb ears)
is still the following: Can someone figure out what's causing this and
offer a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Follow his suggestion and track it down.
This is what causes most of mine:
<script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js"
type="text/javascript">

Doubleclick on the Warning icon to get more details.
If the message is showing you a line number within that script
it would give you a better clue for what is wrong.
Tip: you can use XP Notepad's Ctrl-g command
to find the line number with Word Wrap off (Alt-o,W).
(Word Wrap off is most useful with Status bar on. Alt-V,S)

BTW tell us if you have any ad scraping in effect.
E.g. some such apps actually intercept the HTTP response
and try to alter it, sometimes unsuccessfully. Etc. ; )

That is the method I used to find the script line.
I have google adsense, analytics, etc. restricted.
So, is a rather expected warning since their scripting is blocked.
Just wanted OP to try to determine what was producing his message.

And here we are, one week later, no settings have changed, none of the
HTML on the sites in question has changed, and now IE7 (on either
Vista or XP) isn't showing the error anymore.

YAY!!!

Seriously though, it would be nice if someone actually knew how/why
this happened. It was still happening yesterday evening (5/14) but as
of this morning, it has stopped.

HA!!!
