I just recently got a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router Model WRT54G and I
was going to use it for Wireless devices and network some computers together
using the ethernet ports on the back, but however everything I try, the
computers will not read each other.

The router is connected to the Host computer which has Win XP MCE SP2 and
the other being Win XP Pro SP2. I have tried solutions such as using the
Network setup wizard double checking to make sure both computers have the
same Workgroup name, still no good, making sure the firewalls I have
installed are off and even checking if the Windows Firewall is off and even
checking help and support on XP and cannot find a solution here. I would
like for the Host computer to share a internet connection with the other
computer but for right now I just want them to read each other for right now,
they wont even show up in the "View Workgroup computers".

Ask me if any additional information is needed. Appreciate any help that is
received!

Can you ping one machine from another? Do both machines have access to the
internet?

What do I ping? the Local area connection IP Address? Also forgot to mention
there both on Dial up, but if its too much trouble to share dial up internet
connection, I dont want to set up internet connection sharing then, just
getting it to where the computers will read each other as Workgroups and be
able to share files and other stuff.

To rephrase what James has stated - can you ping computer A from computer B
or can you ping computer B from computer A? Are you running any other
firewall other than the Windows Firewall, i.e. ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet
Security or latest version of NAV - all have firewalls. If so, they need to
be configured to allow local intranet access between computers on your
network. Also, are they both in the same workgroup? Do they have any files
shared? And do you have the same userid/password setup on both computers?
These are just some of the things to check.

Neither, The windows firewall shouldn't interfere with it should it? I
disabled it and didn't do no good still.
