I am trying to use Bootvis to resolve a slow boot problem
on my AMD 2800+ XP Pro(build 2600) machine. After running
the program I get the following error..
Number ot physical drives in the trace file is 0
Trace file has invalid system configuration information.
Any suggestion or comments would be appreciated.

Bootvis can help diagnose slow boot times, but it won't itself fix
anything.

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/sysperf/fastboot/bootvis.mspx

"Please note that Bootvis.exe is not a tool that will improve
boot/resume performance for end users. Contrary to some published
reports, Bootvis.exe cannot reduce or alter a system's boot or resume
performance. The boot optimization routines invoked by Bootvis.exe are
built into Windows XP. These routines run automatically at
pre-determined times as part of the normal operation of the operating
system."

Probably the same thing as bootvis. Install just one hard drive, no zip drives, no controller cards.

I am try ing to find out what application or driver is
hanging during the boot process...

Try instead going to MSConfig.exe and on the Boot.ini page check
/Bootlog
exit and reboot to get a log of the boot and see what happened. Also
/SOS will result in your seeing the list of files load on the screen at
the time: this may or may not be of help
