Recently, the power at home shutoff unexpectedly. Since
then I have been unable to get back onto windows. I am
using Windows XP Home Edition. All it would do is load my
background nothing else. Then I used the setup disc and
tried a repair. This worked and I got back onto my
Windows. Then I decided to go to windows.com and get
updates. Before it was through downloading updates it
reboot itself and now I cannot get on again. I tried using
the disc once again and when it gets ready to setup files
I get a message at the bottom saying "searching for
previous versions of windows" IT just freezes and will do
nothing else. Please help!!

Rich, sometimes a Repair Install just covers up and doesnt fix a
serious fault. Probably best to format and do a clean
install.
