Bootup Problem

Probably as a result of trying to clean up a virus, I now find I can boot in
safe mode but not in normal mode (XP home - SP2 - IE7). I get past the
music but the final screen doesn't appear.

Thoughts?

You can try and disable all startup tasks, then re-enable them
one or two at a time until you find the culprit.

Click Start / Run / msconfig.exe {OK}, then click the Startup
tab. Disconnect your machine from the Internet during these
tests - your virus protection might be disabled!
