Bootup Problem After Reinstall

I had to reinstall XP Pro and, so I wouldn't lose all my data, opted to
reinstall it to a separate directory (windows2). XP Support recommended
this, and walked me through the process. I transferred over all my data, and
deleted the original directory. Everything now works fine.

However, the boot up process hesitates on a screen that asks me which
installation I want to use...even though I got rid of the original copy
entirely.

I know there's a way to get rid of that message, through some admin screen,
but I can't remember how to get there. Can someone please send me the
information? Thanks very much, in advance, for your help!!

You need to edit your c:\boot.ini file so that it reflects a single Windows
location: it should be something like this:-

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

Okay, I'll give it a try. Last time this happened, Support walked me through
a special admin screen. But I've used up my support calls, so now I have to
figure it out by myself...with your help. ;-) Hope it works, thanks!

I just did a search of my C drive, and I don't have a file called "boot.ini"
The last time I did this, XP Support talked me through modifying things
through an admin screen. Does anyone know where I can find that?
