My computer doesn't seem to want to boot to a CD (Any CD including my XP home upgrade disk and my original Gateway ME recovery disk). If I experience a disaster with my hard disk, is there a way to use the floppy drive to then install XP from either just the XP disk or from both of those disks? The CD plays disks just fine; it just doesn't boot from them.

Have you checked to ensure that the system BIOS is set so
the 'first' boot device is CD-ROM?

Windows XP Setup boot disks are available only by download from Microsoft.
The Setup boot disks are available so that you can run Setup on computers
that do not support a bootable CD-ROM.
