I checked here and found out that I could get a boot disk from Microsoft.com.
#1. will using this wipe out all my old files? #2 the floppy on this old
computer I hooked up, is broken, but the cd burner works. Can I download it
to that?

The boot disks will simply make you able to start Windows Setup from
the CD. Windows Setup itself will not change, what means, that you can
re-setup your HDD during the installation of Windows, if you want to
do that.
I do not think, that the floppies will work from a CD.

To TM, Tom, & Colin--- Thanks so much! I'm on my way to almost having it
all solved. Now I'm up to 'Runtime' problem. I tried to use the new Quicken
05 Basic that I had installed before all this happened and re-installed after
this problem, and I got a error message with it. Something about 'Runtime'. I
uninstalled it and am going to try and re-install 03, just so I can get my
info. Installing some of the other programs again allowed me to get into
those files. I tried to look up 'Runtime'. What does it mean? Also someone
said to keep tapping F8 when turning on the computer to bring it to it's DOS
window, which gives rebooting options. That's the one that worked. So far.
Downloading the boot disk took 6 floppies. Installing them was easy with
easy prompts, but I selected the sp2 one. So when I got to the end they
wanted me to install the sp2 cd. Apparently I downloaded the wrong one. For
future I am going to download the right one. Thanks again!! And if you know
about the runtime thing, I'd like to figure that one out.
