How do I boot without logging on? TweakUI offers a way, but it works once
then doesn't 'stick' until a password is specified. That works for awhile
then there is an error on bootup and eventually the screen locks up, and one
has to do a reinstall of Windows XP. There is another method that ivolves
launching conntrol userpasswords2". But that works exactly once and then
becomes deactivated,

Hi,

For those settings to stick, you need more than one account and they need to
be passworded.

To boot and start XP without do a "logon", you need to only be using ONE
user account. If you have more than one, then you will need to logon. Use
TweakUI and un-select the user acounts you do not want to be shown on the
"Welcome" screen. (Under "Logon" only.)
