Booting up

When I try to boot up my system using windows 2000, it
continously shuts down , starts over and will shut down
again right before my desktop opens up? Any suggestions on
how I can get into my system?

You have a virus my friend, boot from a Anti-virus Cd and

clean the system.

this cd, will this protect my files and documents?
