Hello Everyone!

I've got a PC from a client with Win XP Pro that shows a curious problem:

if I try to boot it up in normal mode it'll show the XP logo screen at start up but then it'll go black, even the monitor's LED goes orange, like there's no signal.

BUT, if I start it in Security Mode it will start up OK.

Anybody has any suggestion?

Thank very much!!! :)

I had this same problem. The machine was a Gateway with a NVidia TNT2 pro
video. The card only had a DVI port. I could boot safe mode, but once past
the splash screen the monitor went blank and the power to amber. The machine
worked fine with Win98, but when I upgraded it, the misbehavior started.

The solution for me (posted in the hardware group):
Go here www.guru3d.com and download and install the Nvidia 21.83
driver.
Remove the old driver first.

This worked for me. You did not indicate the video card make. I would
suggest looking in the hardware group for information that might assist you.

Is it a new Video card in your machine, was it working with this card
previously? If you do remove the video drivers and boot with a standard vga
driver, does this work?your monitor does nto support. Go into Safe mode ('security' mode) and go to
Control Panel>Display>Settings, and set your display to 800x600 and restart.
If this works you can then try increasing the reolution in windows.at start up but then it'll go black, even the monitor's LED goes orange,
like there's no signal.
