it takes half an hour to boot up, i have checked the boot up sequence and
there are 35 programes running at start up ,how can i disable some of these
programes at start up.

You can clcik the Start button and then, from the start menu, click Run. In
the Run dialogue box type 'msconfig' (without the quotes) and click OK. The
Windows configuration utility will now launch. Click the Startup tab to see
what applications are loading at startup. You can disable the item by
removing the tick mark next to the item. If yuo are running any Norton
products these can slow down startup.

How do you know that's the problem? I have 60+ processes running at startup
and my system boots to usability in less than a minute. How long since you
performed Essential System Maintenance (defragging, running an AVP and an
SVP, disk cleanup, etc)? If you've not done that in months, no wonder it's
slow!

60 processes does not equate to "more" than 35 programs. IOW, a
"process" is not the same thing as a "program" and you can't really
compare them in this circumstance.

True - I was assuming that the OP didn't know the difference and was using
them interchangeably.

And that is unfortunately a common behavior from you, Miss Perspicacia Tick,
to assume this and that nearly all the time you are replying. It's like you
really enjoy throwing in your nasty comments, to complaining and correcting
in a disgusting way.
What have made you so bitter?

I have seen that you can give proper answers and I believe you are a very
knowledgeable person...to pity you can't show it more often. And one more
thing...how do you know there is a suitable NG for all languages?

Gunilla.

Hooray!!

I agree completely. Miss P I've said before you have the knowledge and
ability to contribute constructively to these groups; unfortunately you
choose, most of the time, to play the bully. Perhaps Miss Vinegar Txxs would
be a more appropriate nic.

As an example, in another ng today (Publisher) you chose a sarcastic
response some six hours after the OP had been informed they were in the
wrong group. Why don't you act like the other guys who respond here
cheerfully and informatively.

Again, grow up or shut up.

I have seen her over there and everywhere and have to take back what I said
that she is a knowledgeable person because the answers she is providing
doesn't need any knowledge, in those terms I meant anyway. She is nothing
but evil in my opinion.

Go into device manager and make sure all drivers are correct. Hangs on boot
up usually are hardware related.

Google an excellent freeware program called Autoruns and download it. Run and
then select the 'Logon' tab. Start by unchecking (not deleting) obviously
unecessary programs, reboot and look for any after-effects, and go back and
delete entirely (or recheck). Much friendlier than msconfig in my IMHO. You
can also ask it the 'Verify' the starting program by right-clicking on it -
should the path not be verified, uncheck and test before getting rid...
