Hi. I have a Windows 98 system. I tried to install XP Pro on it (full
install in another folder.) It was too much for resources so I uninstalled
and redid Windows 98.

Now I have a XP menu come up when I F8 a boot up. I tried renaming boot.ini
but then I can't get up at all. If I do nothing I come up in Window 98.
(remember there is no XP anymore)

I can't get into safe mode in Windows 98. Is there a way to get rid of any
reference in booting up to XP?

thanks.

boot with your win98 floppy and issue the command sys C:

if that works, you may delete boot.ini

Normally, assuming Win9x/Me is installed to the C: drive, you'd
just have to boot from your Win98/Me startup diskette, type "SYS C:."
Then delete C:\NTLDR, C:\NTDETECT.COM, C:\BOOT.INI, C:\BOOTSEC.DOS, and
C:\PAGEFILE.SYS. Delete or reformat the WinXP directory/partition, as
applicable. Remove the startup diskette and reboot.
