Hi can any body help me, I've just installed a broadband modem on my computer
and ever since I have done this my computer can be tempremental when booting
up. the majority of the time it just freezes on the boot up screen. I can get
round this by unplugging my Packard Bell for 10 seconds as stated in the
manual then it will be fine, but it is becoming annoying. Can anybody help?

How far into the boot do you get when it freezes? Does it freeze before the
OS loads or after? Is it connected via USB or Ethernet? What operating system
are you running? What is the make and model of the modem?

If I was to guess I'd say it's probably due to some spyware on your system.
Now that you have instant-on internet (I'm assuming you just used a modem
before) spyware can fully start up while windows is still booting up causing
system instability and infinite loops (freezes). Go to www.lavasoftusa.com
and download the latest version of Adaware (it's completely free) and run
it.
