Can anyone tell me how I can boot up my laptop without the use of a floppy
disk drive? I have a toshiba tecra 550CDT (quite old!).

I've tried creating a bootdisk and then copying the files to CD but this
didn't seem to work.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Phil

If you have a retail version of XP, the CD is bootable. This assumes the
CD-ROM drive is first in line in the boot sequence, something you may have
to adjust in the system BIOS. If it is first in line, if the CD is in the
drive when you boot the system, if there's an OS already installed on the
hard drive, a few screens into the boot process, you will receive the prompt
to hit any key if you wish to boot from the CD, watch for it or the system
will still try to boot from the hard drive.
