Hi, I'm running windows XP Home and whenever i reset or boot from cold, windows behaves really oddly. It will appear to boot up as normal, all the way to the desktop and it loads all the tray icons ok. It will even allow me to browse the HDD, open my computer etc. If i try to run a program however, i get the working in background cursor, then nothing and after about 5 mins all the programs i attempted to run pop up

I've run microsoft bootvis and it said that all the drivers and stuff loads fine, even bootvis itself is unaffected

Can anyone tell me what's going on
(system specs below

P4 2.66Gh
512Mb Ra
40Gb HD
ATi Radeon Mobility 9000 64Mb Graphics Car
It's A Fujitsu N3010 Noteboo

Thanks

Kev

It sound like some program is slow to load and is preventing a total startup
load to be completed. What does Task Manager / Processes show as still using
resourses , when loading is taking place ? Look in msconfig / startup tab
for a non system program. Jym.
