Hi

I use windows XP Professional on a Toshiba 2100 Laptop.

Today I tried to start my laptop and the opening page
shows an error.
Its quite a long one but basically its saying that they
apologise for
the error and there may have been a software configuraiton
problem. It
gives me the opportunity to restart in safe mode, or last
known
configuration that works. I have tried each and every
choice, but
always get teh same end result.

It brings me to a blue screen which reads "A problem has
been detected
and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your
computer" "If
this is the first time you have seen this stop error
screen, restart
your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these
steps"

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation
or backup
utilities. Check the hard drive configuration and check
for any
updated drivers. Run CHKDSK/F to check for hard drive
corruption and
then restart your computer.

Technical information.

OK, thats as far as I have got. Whats happened here. How
can I disable
or uninstall if the computer wont start. Does this sound
like i need a
full reinstallation? Any ideas would be appreciated

Thank you

Tony

ok, I suddenly and for no reason had this same reaction on my Dell Inspiron (cheap) 1120??? I tried to use the XP recovery disk, which froze at examining...before that I tried to go into the safe mode to check disk utility....all to no avail. this is so frustrating since the only out of the normal things I do on my computer, is kodak easy share for my photos, aol for my email, and on FACEBOOK, playing only two games as well as corresponding with my friends and/or family. it's so frustrating for me to have my system slow down and then stop working like this. anyway....help?

sorry if ths is just a Toshiba problem? it seems that I STUMBLED ON A simillar thing...no matter what system you have. and yet we have no help...but to...junk our systems. sadly. help?
