Boot up Problem

When my computer boots up I get a dos message telling me to insert a boot
disk in drive a:/. I am guessing this is a bios problem but I am unable to
figure this out. The only way I can get into Windows is to go into the bios
set up select f5 for default options and f10 to save the changes. This works
but the next time I turn my system on the I have to do it all over again.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

Hi, Rob.

Next time you go into the BIOS, go to the page that lets you change the boot
device. Tell it NOT to boot from the floppy. I can't be specific because
computers vary so much and mine is not likely to be the same as yours, but
you should be able to tell it to boot from the hard drive. Then use F10 to
save the changes, exit the BIOS and reboot.

Most BIOS versions these days allow us to set a second or third boot device.
Some users set the floppy as the first option, the CD as the second and the
HDD as the third. If they want to boot from a floppy, they put it in the
drive and reboot. If they want to boot from CD, they leave the floppy empty
but put a bootable CD in that drive. Normally, they leave both floppy and
CD drives empty and let the system boot from the HDD. Many variations are
possible, but first you have to find the page in your BIOS that lets you
control this. In my BIOS (Award BIOS version 6.00 PG), it is the second
page.

Sounds like your bios battery might be D.O.A.
