i have two operating systems, is there a way to get one to start right
away or change the time i have to chose etc?

Gena, thanks

Gena;

You can change the time.

Right click My Computer | Properties | Advanced tab |
Startup and Recovery | Settings button |
Time to display list of operating systems:
[[Specifies how much time will elapse at startup before the default
operating system starts automatically. Type the number of seconds in the
list, or click the arrows to select the time.]]

Gena

Start>Run "msconfig"(no quotes)>OK

BOOT.INI Tab

Change Timeout to whatever you want(I leave mine at 5 secs)

The default OS will be highlighted in the boot.ini command dialog box above.

If the one you want, leave it alone. If not, move it down.

If you are using the dual boot facilities provided by XP, go to Control
Panel - System - Advanced and at the bottom click Settings in Startup
and Error recovery. There you can change which system is booted by
default, and the time before the default is taken (to say 2 or 3 seconds
instead of the standard 30)

On that same page, you can click the edit button. It will show you the
source code. On the last two lines, you will find your default
operating system listed twice. Delete the last listing, save your
changes, close out of that applet and restart your system. Windows
should start automatically. It worked for me.

Hope this helps also,

Jay
