boot/system partition changes?

Is it possible to change the boot and system partitions
in windows XP?

I added my personal drive (on the IDE channel) to
facilitate data transfer on a friend's computer. Leaving
that drive in the system I installed windows (to his
drive which is on a SATA channel). Now windows sees the
IDE drive as the system volume and the SATA drive as the
boot volume. When the motherboard is set to boot from
SATA controller it will not boot. It will only boot from
the IDE channel. I need to remove the IDE drive which
will make his system unbootable. Is there anyway around
this issue without having to reinstall windows again?

Hi,

Remove the IDE drive, then boot the WinXP CD and run the Recovery Console.
From the command prompt, run fixboot. See if this helps.
