boot sequence

I want to re-install Windows XP Pro. My computor says to click F8 for the
boot menu.I keep clicking away when that message appears but get no response.
When I want to start in the safe mode by clicking "Del" as directed I get the
same result but I have learned to use the "System Config." tool which works.
Is there a similar solution for the "Boot Menu"?

Did you check the vendor's web site knowledge base? Neither of these are XP
issues, they are a function of the PC's BIOS, which loads before the OS (XP
in this case) does, which the manufacturer programs, not MS.
 
Thanks for the help Admiral. I've tracked it down to my keyboard is connected
by usb which is not loaded until it is too late for the bios screen. I need
to use a ps2 ? adaptor.

Look for a setting called "enable USB legacy support" or "enable USB
keyboard support". It will allow you to use your keyboard (connected via
USB before Windows loads).
